Soccer Overview

Welcome to Co-Ed Soccer! The H.V.A.A. Soccer Program focuses on fundamental skill development, creating lasting friendships, sportsmanship based fun, and preparing players for a future in Soccer. We offer several divisions of play determined by age and skill level. All effort is made to place players in the most appropriate division for a successful season. The season length and games (dates shown in table below are approximate only) will be finalized once the number of teams for each division is determined. Fall season soccer ages are determined by the age your child is as of September 1st that year.

H.V.A.A. Soccer subscribes to the Capital District Youth Soccer League (CDSYL) rules of play. This program is to create an interest in soccer within the communities of H.V.A.A. and the Hoosic Valley School District, and provide a consistent structure and foundational development of boys and girls through the program in order to prepare them for scholastic Soccer at the Hoosic Valley School District. This program has been and will continue to be developed with involvement from those coaches at the Modified, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels in conjunction with volunteers from the H.V.A.A. coaching ranks. Our intent is educate them on rules of play, strategy, sportsmanship and most importantly, love of the game. As with class sizes at HVCSD, the levels of enrollment for any age group can change from year to year. In the event that there are not enough players at a given level, H.V.A.A. coaches in cooperation with the Soccer Chair, may elect to play against neighboring community organizations such as Brunswick, Greenwich, Hoosick Falls, etc. Athletic Associations, at their or our facilities, to enrich the competition and reinforce their skills progression.

The H.V.A.A. Soccer Opening Day is the kick-off to the season. Players and parents should expect a minimum of one (1) practice and one (1) game per week for the duration of the season. At the 13U League level practices and games can vary, but try to follow a consistent schedule.

For all divisions, practice fields are typically at Chapko-Lewis or occasionally at Hoosic Valley Central School field behind the Stewarts. Because of the limited number of fields, the various divisions will play on alternating days during the week, or scheduled throughout the day on weekends. Typically, weekend games are scheduled in the morning.

Skills and Drills

Skills and Drills are held within H.V.A.A. prior to the season start to assess the level of the players and select teams.

The Soccer Program is seeking dedicated parent and community volunteers interested in supporting the progression of soccer in Hoosic Valley. Prospective coaches should be eager to develop player skills, team unity, sportsmanlike attitude, and a love of the game in all players. Our coaches typically find the experience very enjoyable and rewarding and many return to coach again. When selected to coach, if you have a child participating in the Association in that sport, that child will be the first player placed on your team. If you are interested in applying as a head or assistant coach, please indicate when you register your child, or, you can contact the H.V.A.A. Chair for that sport, listed in the Officer Contacts section of the website.
