Senior League (Ages 13 to 18)

Any boy who has or will reach the age of 13-18 on May 1st, shall be eligible to play in the H.V.A.A. Senior League Division. A player review and draft process may be held to form teams or equalize skills across teams. The Senior level is both competitive and instructional with high emphasis on the competitive aspects of the game more than at any other level. Coaches focus on fielding a competitive team while also providing the players with a fun learning experience that will prepare each player to compete at the High School level. All players are ensured playing time based on performance, and participation throughout practices and games. Players should focus on refining their baseball skills with a strong emphasis on speed and consistency that will transition into High School play. Games are umpired by Capital District Umpires. At this level, the difference between an average player and a good player is the ability to consistently execute the required skills quickly and apply them to practice and game situations. Players in the Senior league level should:

  • Advanced and Experienced TEAM Concepts, including on-time to practice and games, prepared to play baseball (including the preparation, function and organization of individual safety equipment in the dugout)
  • Advanced and Experienced warm up and training techniques
  • Understand how to go back on a fly ball
