HVAA's ADKYL travel basketball program offers both boys and girls divisions for students currently in grades 4 through 6. It is a great program to keep kids active during the long winter months. Through ADKYL travel basketball, HVAA hopes to help kids achieve the following:
To create a positive environment for youth to learn the game and enjoy playing basketball.
Teach age appropriate developmental skills, rules, teamwork, and game strategies.
Model and teach sportsmanship.
Develop athleticism, coordination, strength and self-esteem which can in turn be applied to other sports and activities.
Have FUN!
Here is what parents and athletes should know as you are considering ADKYL travel basketball:
Registrations begins in September.
Season runs from November through early March.
ADKYL travel basketball is a travel league (with games as far away as an hour).
Practices are every Saturday and Sunday @ Hoosic Valley Elementary School and are generally 1-2 hours.
Games are generally on Saturdays, but could potentially have added games scheduled on Sunday.
While ADKYL travel basketball is a large commitment, players find it a very rewarding experience in which they develop new friendships and learn how to work as a team. A flyer is sent home from school each September with information about the upcoming season, and questions can be emailed to [email protected] any time.
